Focus Your Workout

No matter how hard we try to convince ourselves that we should enjoy our workout, we can’t help slacking once we reach our fitness goal. A workout that once excited and revitalized us can become tiring and unexciting. However, there are easy ways to revive your interest in exercise. Here’s how.

Working out together is better than going solo
While working out you may sometimes feel that you don’t need to try as hard because you have no immediate goals or deadlines. It’s then that you need to list the reasons why you want to exercise and never forget them. Ask yourself why you wanted to get fitter and healthier to begin with. If you are full of life, you should not find it difficult to identify a goal. For instance, some of you will have compelling reasons such as living longer to enjoy life with your family, or being fitter so you can play with your grandchildren or even cheaper health insurance!
It is also important not to forget how far you’ve come, and to remember how unhealthy and unfit your life and body were before you started working out.

This is very important for motivation. Concentrate on how great you feel about your fit body and robust health. If weight loss was part of your plan, and you’ve met that goal, remember that it is important to keep at it. Focus on your progress and use each day as a new starting point. The commitment you make to yourself will be the driving force for your success. Exercise will boost your longevity and family life.

Working out together is always better than going solo. Social support can bring a greater sense of camaraderie, kinship and even healthy competition. If you normally work out alone at home, try a gym for a sample workout, or join a yoga class. It’s a great way to stay fit and meet new people.

Give yourself a pep talk and don’t push yourself too much. You deserve a pat on the back for all that you have achieved, so go ahead and give yourself one. Your family and friends are always giving you great feedback, so why don’t you?

Get daily workoutYou exercise because you like to. Fitness should be a way of life and not a task. Develop an exercise schedule that you can maintain comfortably without being late for work, missing your favorite TV programs or your friend’s cocktail party. Such an exercise plan is well integrated with your life: it’s what you do and what you are.
The longer you stick to your plan; the better is the momentum you build up. It makes following your routine much easier. The secret of all fit and healthy people in this world is that they don’t look at exercise as a punishment, but preventive maintenance!
Once you have reached an acceptable level of physical fitness, remember, it’s easier to maintain than it is to start over. And trust me, you will keep looking spectacular!
