How to care for feet

Retinoid creams

Bang on. The most common causes for feet is squinting and smoking (we squint feet carewhen smoke goes into our eyes and due to the overall ageing effect of tobacco on our skin). Usually, they are the earliest wrinkles to appear on a woman’s face. But, they are not always a sign of ageing. Very often they are caused by squinting in the glare of the sun.

Bottom line: They don’t look pretty and it makes the face look older. The sooner you take steps to prevent crow’s feet, the younger the skin around your eyes will look. If the damage is already done, there are ways to minimize their appearance. There’s no need for you to stop laughing to hide your age, though!

Home treatments

Fruits like pineapple or papaya are good. Papaya contains papain—an enzyme that helps produce collagen (the protein responsible for the skin’s elasticity). Apply the fruit pulp around your eyes, leave for 10 minutes and rinse. Applying egg white also feet carehelps. It temporarily tightens and flattens the appearance of wrinkles. It also hydrates the skin and keeps it supple.

Creams

Try a topical cream containing Vitamin C. This vitamin smoothens the skin and helps rebuild the underlying tissue. The best skin products that help are skin creams containing glycolic acid—an alpha hydroxy acid derived from sugarcane. It causes new, healthy skin cells to replace old, wrinkled ones. Retinoid creams containing Vitamin A derivatives such as tretinoin, when applied to the skin help in collagen production, strengthening the structure of the skin and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Recent research has shown that topical DMAE (an antioxidant available in the form of creams) causes immediate improvement of skin tone and with continued use significantly lifts and contours a sagging face.

Sunscreens

Considering crow’s feet is caused by exposure to the sun, wearing a sunscreen is the easiest and least expensive way of preventing them. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (one that protects from both UVA and UVB rays) around your eyes. In feet careaddition, wear sunglasses and hats to prevent further photo-ageing. And, if possible, avoid smoking.

Dermat procedures

It results from the loosening of skin around the eyes. Their appearance can be reduced with the help of certain dermat procedures.

Thermage: This procedure is performed with a machine called the thermacool system, which has been cleared by the FDA for the non-invasive treatment of periorbital wrinkles. The machine delivers a special form of radiofrequency that tightens the tissue and does not involve any surgical incisions - the only non-invasive method to tighten loose skin.

Fruit packs

Chemical Peels: The appropriate peel (a chemical solution) is applied, depending on the severity of wrinkles.

This helps in the rejuvenation of the skin and formation of newer collagen tissue.

Laser Resurfacing Non invasive and safe lasers like Co2 laser are available and help in preventing and reducing fine wrinkles.

Botox It is the brand name of botulinium toxin type A, a protein which when injected into a muscle causing wrinkles, relaxes it, thereby minimizing crow’s feet. It works only on dynamic wrinkles (the ones which form when you are frowning and laughing).
