Protect Your Hair
Effective makeup tips
Even when it is not pouring, the high humidity levels can make your make-up melt. Either way, you need to build your defenses. A bit of caution and some common make-up sense can help you look great even if you are caught in a downpour
Foundation
A water resistant make-up
The best thing to do this season would be to go for the minimalist look. If you are

like me and love make-up, stick with water-resistant foundation. However, use it as sparingly as possible.
If you are indoors and fear humidity rather than a downpour then layer your make-up to make it waterproof. Apply your foundation and then use powder to pack it in. MAC Studio Fix is a good product to use in such conditions.
Avoid using thick, creamy concealers. They may bleed and run—stick to matt ones instead.
For dry skin the best thing to use is a light-tinted moisturizer with an SPF.
Dealing with oily skin in this weather can be tricky. Blot Powder from MAC is an excellent product that will give you minimal coverage, counter stickiness and shine. A mattifying cream by MAC or Matt Effect by Lakme will also help reduce stickiness
Eyes

Put all your kohl sticks away for the time being as eye shadow stick will bleed and create faux dark circles under your eyes. Yikes! To get your eye make-up right this season use a primer or gel-based eye-shadow. Powder is likely to wash away on its own. Therefore, layer your cream eye-shadow with powder. Make-up rubs off faster in humid weather so try using waterproof products. Stick to crayon-based eye-shadows; these are waterproof, easy to apply and don’t smudge.
Go for gel-based or water-resistant eyeliners. Use them to support the lash line rather than applying them thick.
Beautify your lips
Transparent mascaras (such as Oriflame Clear Mascara) are great for daily wear and will shape your lashes beautifully without streaking your face. For more definition though, you could use black waterproof mascara (L’Oreal and Chambor are good choices) which are readily available. You should avoid using mascara on the lower lashes.
Blush
Use gel-based blushers or a liquid tint. Apply sparingly and use in greater proportion

if required. Blushers look best when you can’t tell they have been applied.
Bobbi Brown
Prevention, (US) make-up expert says:
“During hot and humid weather eye make-up tends to crease. To avoid this, prime your eyelids with the same loose powder you use to set your foundation. It will absorb natural oils and create a base for shadows to stick.
So blend well on the plain of the cheek and use a bright light color on the apples. With the grey skies, brighter colors will light up your face. Peach, pink and fuchsia are hot this season.
Lips
Line your lips with a nude color pencil and fill in. You may go over it with the tones you are wearing. Fill in using a long-lasting lipstick. Color Bar has a good range. If you find this too dry, top it up with a clear gloss such as Lakme Diamond Shine clear gloss. Tiramisu by Color Bar is a personal favorite. Bright lip colors are in. However, if you are not comfortable wearing them tone them down by adding a bit of foundation.
Hot tip of the season
Do try out Lotus SPF 40 Matt sunscreen as a primer before make-up. It will make your skin feel good and smooth in this humid weather.
